"I had been doing Yoga for a while but with Deepa, Yoga took on a new meaning for me. " Meditation in motion"- that is what Deepa said Yoga should be. I have back and hip problems which Deepa guided me through personally but even in her weekly group sessions, along with the traditional poses, Deepa takes us through many variations of it, with precision and with each, the exact muscle we are targeting, increasing our awareness of our body and the the effect each pose has on it. Developing an instinctive practice is constantly Deepa's aim for us, encouraging us to challenge without pushing our limits. Deepa's understanding of the people in her group and their individual levels is so well honed that each group lesson still feels individually tailored. She encourages questions and feedback after her sessions which is always very comforting. After Deepa's one and a half hour sessions, with meditation for 8 minutes each before and after the physical practice, I feel have had a total mind and body workout. "I joined Deepa’s Yoga class in 2018, when she was teaching in The Brahm Centre, Singapore. I am still in her class on Zoom every week though we are separated by thousands of miles! My initial intention to join Yoga was to improve my health. As I learned more, I found yoga has a calming effect on me. It reduces my daily anxiety and makes me more patient.The various breathing exercises I learned in yoga class, progressively influenced me more, as I became a calmer and more mindful person. A third benefit I felt, was that I could sleep more soundly as Deepa sometimes brings meditation into yoga. I used to suffer from insomnia. Now I can sleep better. If I do wake up in the middle of the night and have trouble falling back to sleep, I would listen to Deepa's meditation recordings on the SoundCloud App. After that, gently and often surely, I could fall back to sleep. Yoga also helps build up the discipline in me. I attend lessons regularly and I try to practise some yoga every day too. I am glad that I can still learn yoga on Zoom with Deepa now that she lives in London, otherwise I would lose the best yoga teacher I have ever had."

"Deepa is one of my most favorite yoga teachers. When one finds a perfect yoga teacher, it feels like such a boon in life. The perfect amount of stretch, relaxation and then the residual feeling of perfect restfulness, yet vigour. Because I have issues with my joints and muscles from a very young age, it is hard to find a teacher that understands my body & then caters all the exercises for my body. Deepa is one of those teachers with great knowledge, experience, compassion & strength.
As a true yoga teacher, her focus was always about keeping the breath in mind while exercising, bringing about a calmness in the student. She is so much fun to have as a teacher too. Everyone of the students absolutely love her. She has all the qualities that one seeks in a teacher & hence is immensely missed in our Singapore yoga class.
Frankly, it is not easy to find a substitute for her. Whenever I was disturbed with a situation or circumstance in life, Deepa would explain & talk to me and that would have the perfect effect of helping my mind through that situation, giving it the correct dose of kindness yet understanding of the ways of the universe.
